White Nicotiana

I don't think I ever shared last year's white nicotiana. It smells so pretty.
The bed it was in had to be reworked, so trying to get some re-established. It is a favorite of mine. The bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and hummingbird moths love it.
It is the perfect plant for a moonlight garden.
Plant it close to your porch and enjoy its intoxicating scent in the evenings.
I have never seen this available anywhere as a plant, so I grow it from seed.

Just a few things from around my world this week.

A few things blooming in spite of no rain and the heat
Chris's pond is down 6 or 7 feet

This is what is normally looks like

Wildflowers might be a bust!

This man always does his best to make my dreams come true!
This year's wildflowers patch might not make it but next year
should be spectacular. Water coming soon.
We are now in a severe drought even with the hubby adding the water lines
we will not be able to water much for fear of our well going dry.

And I couldn't help myself. I ordered more seeds for the wildflower field.
Fingers crossed they'll put on a show in the fall. Just with the little bit of water, they got yesterday,
this morning, I found several blue bachelor's buttons, a pretty light pink straw flower,
and my favorite white nicotiana.

It's hot, no rain and no wildflowers

I sure am enjoying this purslane plant the colors have been so fun to watch change.
It is in momma"s big cast iron pot. I had one piece and it has taken over.
Folks, it's hot out there. Ya'll stay safe and enjoy the rest of your day.

Our little raised bed gardens may not be big but they sure make Allen, Chris and I happy.
Supper tonight was a yummy beef roast from THE BUTCHER`S BLOCK in Bloomingdale.
Cucumbers, fried squash and Roma beans from the garden with new potatoes.
The cucumbers, squash, peppers and beans have all done well this year.
But the tomatoes are giving me a run for my money! They keep dying on me.

And we are starting to see a few wildflowers starting to bloom in the front field.
But it will be awhile before they are big enough to really see and show off.
And we still need lots of rain we are so dry.

Sunday on the porch

The last Sunday in May and we are finally getting a little rain.
Rain, frogs singing, surrounded by God's beauty and blessings.
I want for nothing more and praise our Lord for all of my blessings.
Wishing each of you a beautiful day.

Spotted Beebalm

How surprised am I to find Monarda Spotted Beebalm
in the veggie garden this morning.
The plant has been there since the end of last year and through the winter,
but it just took off recently. It had been hiding behind some basil.
I will be saving the seeds I am going to need more of this everywhere.

EDITED TO ADD PICTURE OF BEEBALM ON JUNE 12TH

Julia Childs roses OH MY!

Thank you Ijon H. Webb Farm Supply for the gorgeous Julia Childs roses.
There is 11 of them going across the front of the house.
I even took a petal to Lowes and had paint matched to paint my rockers
on the front porch that soft creamy faded yellow.

Discounted Clematis

Why is it the plants that are given to you, the ones you sneak a pinch of
or the ones that you buy from the discount table the ones that always do so well.
I think they feel the love that comes from us working
a little bit harder to keep them alive... lol

Pulled carrots this morning

OK.... I have never grown carrots before, this was so much fun.
They are so sweet, I will be making a spot for them from now on in the garden.

I ate my fill and share with my little bunny neighbors

Have you ever seen a Four O'clock tubular?

I was so surprised the first time I saw one it looked like an elephant's foot.
These are from plants that are about 2 years old.
They can get many times bigger than what I have here.

Royal Star magnolias

I have been waiting for this day for 5 years. Every spring, since we left Savannah, I have missed my two royal star magnolias. The first time I saw the star Magnolias was well over 40 years ago,
I walked onto the property of Hunter's nursery off of Old Louisville road,
and they were growing and blooming everywhere.
It was one of the prettiest sights I had ever seen. It ran a close race with Mr. Joyner's day lilies.
I have searched everywhere for 5 years for one. Last year I did find a very small piece of one
which I really thought didn't make it, but I found it this afternoon while planting this new one.
So, if all goes well, I will once again have one in my front yard and one in my backyard
that I'll be able to see from my kitchen window.
For making me a happy girl today.

Project 2026 has begun and a few other fun things

This man of mine is pretty awesome. He has already started ripping apart this big bed and cleaning it out. He has also already brought in a beautiful trailer load of organic potting mix from Longwood Plantation.

And he has started working the ground for a big 300' by 50' wildflower bed out in the front pasture. I have said many times one day I will live among the Cosmos this may be my year.

I know it's hard to see but there are blue flags marking the sides

So many seeds but, is it enough?

First project of 2026

First project of 2026 to tackle!

This flower bed is almost 70' across

it has been a big mess pretty much from the start.
I completely lost control of it when I was laid up with my bad ankles, and I had just given up on even trying to get it back. My thoughts were to just take it apart and let it go back to grass this winter.

But I just can't bring myself to doing that.
I had a vision from the beginning of what I wanted this bed to be and I along with help from the hubby are going to make it happen this year!

So, here's to the first project of 2026
