Photography and me

I have had some type of camera pretty much my entire life and over the years I have taken a bezillion images! Some were really great; some were just so so.... Some made people happy, some captured special family moments, childhood milestones, and some were the last images of someone's loved one.  They all have become precious memories for me, and I treasure every family that allowed me to share in those moments.

Today December 2023 I have decided to pack away my big girl cameras and close down my photography business. After many, many years of doing what I loved, it's time to hang it up. I am not sure how I feel about it though. On one hand I am all for it and on the other I truly can't imagine not doing portrait photography ever again.

I started working with a local photographer at the age of 15. I shot my first wedding alone at 16 on a 2 1/4 format camera if you know what that is then you love photography also.

My mother owned a bridal boutique and florist; she also did catering and made wedding cakes so all she needed was a photographer to be a one stop shop! So, she found a local wedding photographer to teach me and off I went. I was very fortunate to get to work with three photographers in the wedding industry before venturing out on my own. I stopped doing wedding photography when I got married. Then in 2013 I started picking up little portrait sessions every now and again which turned into a pretty fun full-time gig.

I have also shut down my web site but if you would like to see some of my work I did share some on Facebook at Cherry Devereaux Photography

Here's a few favorites from through the years
